Over the years we have kept a visitors book at the old Opal Miner's Hut. We now have over 8000 signatures of people from all over the world who have appreciated our service. Many from all parts of the globe visited the shop and were surprised to see us still there after such a long time. Over the years, many opal miners from the outback have called to have their opal cut,to trade, and to talk opal business. Unfortunately 'civilization' eventually caught up with us and the old place had to be demolished. The white ants finally won the day. However, my nephew Peter Youngson, still represents us in the area and has started a new shop called 'the sheepskin hut' just up the road. My sister still works there three times a week and she represents us with the opals.
