Classic example of the type of opal that was once found in considerable quantities in Coober Pedy but is becoming increasingly rare. The full color of this piece will not be seen until it is cut and polished, but looking at the bars of color from the side is a good indication as to the potential of this piece. Good for an opal cutter who likes adventure. The finished stones could be worth thousands, but of course there is always a risk buying opal in the rough like this. you cannot tell for certain.
