This large slab or gorgeous grey Crystal Opal from Coober Pedy is a cutters delight. For one thing, there is little or no risk in purchasing it as all the rubbish or valueless potch has been cut away, leaving you with a nice surface area to work on. This piece offers an area large enough to cut whatever shaped stones you like, either as a large pendant piece with accompanying ring stone, or whatever your imagination offers. The color in this piece is exceptional. It has lots of beautiful oranges and subdued greens with yellow highlights. I would imagine that the finished piece or pieces would produce stones with a retail tag of around $3000 to $4000 depending on presentation. It weighs over 50 carats (about 10 grams) and is 40×30 mm in size. Be sure to visit the opal cutting section on this site if you need some help in this.
