This Crystal Coober Pedy Opal is an interesting stone to cut and offers a real challenge because in fact it has a crossover of bars that will need some analysis before cutting. There is a chance that at least two, maybe three stones will come out of it but because one section of the stone has pits there is a risk of losing one. But this type of challenge is fascinating and because of this the piece has been priced accordingly at $500, which includes freight and insurance to your door or post office. But i can visualise a retail value of around $2000 for the completed stones. Of course the color has not been opened up and its always less risk to buy rubs than rough but if you like a challenge, this stone is for you. Incidentally, the two images show the stone from both sides. The fingers give you an idea of the comparative size which is 45x33x13 deep at one end. the weight is nearly 16 grams or 80 carats.
